In her masterful hands, checklists appear, schedules are unveiled, and timelines are established. She modestly bends time and space to her will. Mel Petersen received her BA in filmmaking from the Art Institute of Houston in December 2013 and has served her time in all the hot seats of pre-production, production and post-production for the last 4+ years.
She has worked on various school and local Houston short film productions including as AD on Yus Marto’s short film “Donovan”, which won best drama at Gulf Coast Film and Video Festival. Her latest production as cinematographer “Paradise Exhaust” is set to be submitted for film festivals in 2016.
The most wondrous thing to her about filmmaking is the process of bringing all the pieces together to create a story. When she is not conjuring up her own projects, Ms. Petersen lends her amazing abilities of organization, motivation, and determination to only the best up and coming new filmmakers.
